Social Security Unveils Online Benefit Estimator

The Social Security Administration (SSA) has developed an online tool to help people plan for retirement by providing immediate and personalized estimates of a person's Social Security Benefits at retirement age. The Estimator is tied to a person's actual Social Security earnings record and eliminates the need to manually key in years of earnings information. The Estimator is available at http://www.socialsecurity.gov/estimator

Visitors to the site will be asked to identify themselves (such as first and last names, date of birth, Social Security number, mother's maiden name and place of birth)and, with this information and what the SSA has on record, calculate a quick and reliable on-line benefit estimate.
