District Sales Manager (Retail Products)
JOB SUMMARY:
Supervises and evaluates selling effort of sales representatives and brokers in assigned territory.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develops sales plans and strategies for review and approval of immediate supervisor.
- Confers with sales representatives and brokers to develop sales objectives for market areas and presents to regional sales manager for approval.
- Recommends pricing strategies and promotional programs for key customers in assigned territory.
- Maintains personal contact with key customers in assigned markets.
- Recruits and interviews candidates for sales representative positions and recommends hiring to regional sales manager.
- Participates in the selection of new brokers with regional sales manager and is responsible for their training and development.
- Analyzes brokers retail and direct selling activity and effects changes as needed.
- Develops and implements store shelf management programs for major retail accounts.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs other allied duties as assigned by supervisor.
- May substitute for regional sales manager in his or her absence.
- May represent sales function in company QIP (quality improvement process) activity.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:
- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent, in business or marketing.
- At least five years' field experience in selling grocery products at the retail store level.
- Valid state motor vehicle operator's license. Willingness to travel extensively in assigned territory.
- Strong communication skills—verbal, presentation, and writing.
- Interest in directing and guiding others—supervisory interest or skills.
