Merchandise Coordinator I

JOB SUMMARY:
Serves as primary interface between the Merchandising Division and Distribution Center.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Monitors merchandise movement to ensure timely and quality service within standards of performance using CRTs, purchase order files, and other computer equipment.
  2. Assists in prioritizing incoming merchandise.
  3. Ensures that the facility has proper paperwork to receive and process goods.
  4. Resolves any merchandising problems that may inhibit the receipt and/or shipment of goods.
  5. Monitors MIS reports to ensure that all information is correct and updated as necessary.
  6. Assists in inventory preparation.

    • Internal Contacts: Systems Control Manager, Operations Managers, Operations Supervisors, Traffic Manager, Merchandise Managers, Head Merchandisers, Merchandisers, Shipment Scheduling Department, Facility Manager
    • External Contacts: First-line management, Sales representatives, Dispatchers of merchandise, Vendors
  2. Responsibility for providing functional guidance to other individuals, departments, divisions, etc.
    • Provides guidance to operating departments relating to priorities on merchandise movement.

JOB LATITUDE:

  1. Responsibility for design and development of programs, strategies, and policies:
    • Develops procedures to control shrinkage.
  2. Responsibility for implementation and/or administration of programs, policies, and procedures:
    • Assists in administration of Corporate guidelines regulating quality receipt and shipment of merchandise.
    • Administers MMC plans.
  3. Formal guidelines, if any, which provide an operational framework for this job:
    • FTC Regulations
    • Corporate guidelines regulating timely receipt and shipment of merchandise.
  4. Kinds of decisions and recommendations made by the incumbent:
    1. Decisions:
      • Merchandise markdowns
      • Receipt of vendor substitutions
      • Merchandise ticketing
    2. Recommendations to others:
      • Recommends merchandise receipt through prioritization to Systems Control Manager.
      • Recommends procedures to control shrinkage to Financial Controller and Systems Control Manager.
      • Recommends better methods of processing merchandise to Merchandise Division.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Performs other allied duties as assigned by supervisor.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:

  1. Minimum formal education: High school diploma, or equivalent.
  2. Minimum job content knowledge: Basic business course.
  3. Minimum experience: Trainee to one (1) year's experience in related field.
