Packing Machine Operator

JOB SUMMARY:
To operate automatic packing machine to pack product in shipping cartons to ensure continuous line production.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Obtains customer order and assures that adequate packing supplies are in packing machine hopper or available at machine.
2. Starts machine and carefully observes initial operation. If satisfactory, upgrades machine speed to full cycle.
3. Removes jams when machine shuts down because of malfunction, incorrect packing materials, etc.
4. Records production for customer order. Disposes of spoilage in designated manner.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Performs other allied duties as assigned by supervisor.
2. May perform rework of damaged product when line is down.
3. May sweep work area and clean machinery.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:

1. At least one year machine operator experience in-company or elsewhere.
2. Color vision acuity to detect various customer color codes.
