Production Coordinator
JOB SUMMARY:
The Production Coordinator reviews contract requirements as summarized on a sales order, determines and orders materials required, and schedules the work required so that the program will be completed in an efficient and timely manner.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Reviews and becomes familiar with all drawings, specifications, and other documents concerning assigned projects.
- Opens appropriate work packages to evaluate job costs, and determines the optimal lot size and acceptance test requirements commensurate with customer need dates and component parts delivery schedules.
- Coordinates with appropriate department personnel to fulfill all contract requirements.
- Determines project material requirements and current inventory status of component parts. Orders and monitors the status of materials by maintaining inventory logs for piece parts and finished goods.
- Writes or reviews manufacturing procedures and related documents.
- Prepares and distributes master program and lot schedules and prepares shipping forecasts. Coordinates resolution of shop problems and revises schedules when necessary.
- Coordinates with the assigned QA engineer and test engineering group for accomplishment of all outside and in-house testing of hardware.
- Summarizes labor hours and material dollar costs on each job to prepare workforce projections and budget estimates in order to meet accounting requirements.
- Determines product packaging and shipping requirements.
- Prepares accurate, detailed labor and material estimates for proposed building jobs. This must be done from conceptual drawings and without detailed procedures.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs other allied duties as assigned by supervisor.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:
- Company commitments often demand timely, innovative thinking and actions.
- Contract requirement variations require discerning analysis and specially formulated plans.
- Minimum of two (2) years of college.
- Two (2) or more years' experience in design drafting, production planning, or assembly work.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints to the extent required to write manufacturing procedures with adequate clarity and detail for shop use.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
