Production Coordinator

JOB SUMMARY:
The Production Coordinator reviews contract requirements as summarized on a sales order, determines and orders materials required, and schedules the work required so that the program will be completed in an efficient and timely manner.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Reviews and becomes familiar with all drawings, specifications, and other documents concerning assigned projects.
  2. Opens appropriate work packages to evaluate job costs, and determines the optimal lot size and acceptance test requirements commensurate with customer need dates and component parts delivery schedules.
  3. Coordinates with appropriate department personnel to fulfill all contract requirements.
  4. Determines project material requirements and current inventory status of component parts. Orders and monitors the status of materials by maintaining inventory logs for piece parts and finished goods.
  5. Writes or reviews manufacturing procedures and related documents.
  6. Prepares and distributes master program and lot schedules and prepares shipping forecasts. Coordinates resolution of shop problems and revises schedules when necessary.
  7. Coordinates with the assigned QA engineer and test engineering group for accomplishment of all outside and in-house testing of hardware.
  8. Summarizes labor hours and material dollar costs on each job to prepare workforce projections and budget estimates in order to meet accounting requirements.
  9. Determines product packaging and shipping requirements.
  10. Prepares accurate, detailed labor and material estimates for proposed building jobs. This must be done from conceptual drawings and without detailed procedures.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Performs other allied duties as assigned by supervisor.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:

  1. Company commitments often demand timely, innovative thinking and actions.
  2. Contract requirement variations require discerning analysis and specially formulated plans.
  3. Minimum of two (2) years of college.
  4. Two (2) or more years' experience in design drafting, production planning, or assembly work.
  5. Ability to read and interpret blueprints to the extent required to write manufacturing procedures with adequate clarity and detail for shop use.
  6. Good verbal and written communication skills.
