Receiving Clerk

JOB SUMMARY:
To keep accurate records to all materials received, inspect shipments, and reconcile packing slips or manifests with actual items, and verify that materials are delivered to correct departments or properly stored in warehouse.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Receives and unloads incoming materials and compares quantities shown on packing slips to actual items received and original purchase order.
  2. Notes back/ordered items.
  3. Inspects items according to instructions; reports damaged goods to supervisor; and arranges for any necessary returns.
  4. Enters receipt of goods into computerized inventory records, including item number, quantity, price, etc., according to instructions.
  5. Uses dolly or carries small items to proper department or storage place within warehouse.
  6. Spot-checks inventory on a daily basis.
  7. Reconciles computer records with physical inventory according to established schedule.
  8. Reports any discrepancies to supervisor.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Performs other allied duties as assigned by supervisor.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:

  1. High school diploma or GED.
  2. Ability to input data on computer to create a daily inventory report.
  3. Accuracy in recordkeeping and in sorting, checking, counting, and verifying items received.
  4. Exposure to varying weather conditions and temperatures in warehouse and on loading dock.
  5. Physical strength to lift up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  6. Good visual acuity to inspect shipments.
  7. Good finger dexterity to input data into inventory records.
